Jim Thorpe
During the Labor Day weekend, Mary Ann and I visited Jim Thorpe, PA. It
is a delightful small town, still retaining many of its older Victorian
buildings, all well cared for. There are a wealth of attractions there,
historical and otherwise. Among them are
- The Old Jail, where 4 of the infamous Molly McGuires were hung
- The Asa Packer mansion, home of the builder of the Lehigh Valley Railroad
- The Mauch Chunk Museum, with extensive displays on the history of the
area.
- Lehigh Gorge State Park, with hiking and biking trails
- Rail Tours, Inc. scenic train rides
